Sara Klettke MacWilliams joined the Young & Susser team in January of 2007. Prior to joining Young & Susser, she was an associate with Howard & Howard in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Ms. MacWilliams focuses exclusively on complex commercial litigation, including issues such as health care, trade secrets and intellectual property, and business contracts. Ms. MacWilliams has considerable courtroom and other practical experience, and as case manager, she routinely handles large volume document discovery, e-discovery issues, and numerous depositions, and she writes and researches briefing for a wide variety of summary judgment, motions in limine, and other pretrial and trial motions.
Her recent experience includes serving as second chair counsel for a $10 million health care litigation and serving as second chair counsel for a multi-jurisdictional trade secret dispute.
Ms. MacWilliams received her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Kalamazoo College, where she studied history and Chinese language and received an honors and competitive English scholarship. She also studied abroad and received a one-year degree from Beijing Language and Cultural University. She received her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as an associate editor of the Michigan Journal of International Law, as well as a writer and editor of the student newspaper and creative writing magazines. In both 2010 and 2011, Ms. MacWilliams was named a Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Star.
Ms. MacWilliams is admitted to practice in Michigan, the Eastern and Western Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts of Michigan, and the Federal Circuit, and has obtained pro hac vice admittance in, among others, the West District of Pennsylvania, the District of Oregon, the Northern District of Illinois, the Northern District of Ohio, and the Southern District of New York.
